Maryland Historic Landcover circa 1970's - 1980's


This dataset was obtained from http://edc.usgs.gov/products/landcover.html
(Specifically the third product described on this page)

The downloaded pieces were merged together. The layer was then reclassified into 7 classes of landcover based on an Anderson Level I classification. Then it was clipped to the state of Maryland and projected into MD State Plane Meters for use in our class. The categories of landcover are:

0 - UNKNOWN
1 - Urban / Developed
2 - Agriculture
4 - Forest Land
5 - Water
6 - Wetlands
7 - Barren Lands

These categories can be directly correlated to the categories that we used for our reclassified 1992 NLCD data (though the category numbers are slighly different).
